Where Went My Wings?

A Poem by Pete

The woods would be very silent if the only birds that sang were those who sang best. - Thoreau

Eurasian Tree Sparrow - Passer montanus ...

a bird in a tree
that's what i desire to be
happy, singing, free

when we think of ourselves as being caught in a some kind of dark trap, because of our circumstances, we sure would like to emulate a bird’s life…. little worry, free to fly and discover and the joy of singing every day, all day, even enjoying a little love in a warm, inviting nest…..
sweet poem Pete!

A lovely succinct write. The words remind me of the saying "Man is born free, but is everywhere in chains" and I believe that we ourselves create those chains which bind us. We have free will, but I like the view of being like a little bird "happy, singing, free" because that is how it is when a person feels fully alive. It's all in the mind really and if we make the choice to be happy, we will be happy and sing out loud with great joy and the freedom we enjoy each and every day of our lives without giving it a thought. A very thought provoking write, Pete. I enjoyed reading and in reading I discovered just how happy I am today and I smile! Thank you for sharing your lovely poem and for the smile, dear poet...
