Sweet Dreams

Sweet Dreams

A Poem by Pete
"

I never found a companion that was so companionable as solitude. - Thoreau

"
Dancing Angels

frozen in a mellifluous, buttery tickle of time
keeping a confectionary, cadence whilst hearts and souls boasted of newfound wealth
rhythmic hands shuffled soft, well-worn drums
steel strings sang of fragile, caressing love
nimble, shortened fingers their master
as a steely voice cut above golden sunshine
desperate, trembling hands reached out to turn volume knobs

righteous, wooden fences and lonely, well-rooted trees stood ever upright
to play the jingle of heaven's song
punctuating, prudently and proudly
forever loudly
we held each other
swaying in passion's trance
as angels laughed and danced in righteous, joyous taciturnity
in well-spent nuances of a distant, seemingly unreachable eternity

"If a man does not keep pace with his companions, perhaps it is because he hears a different drummer. Let him step to the music which he hears, however measured or far away." - Thoreau
