The Narrow Path

The Narrow Path

A Poem by Pete
"

Remember that the smallest seed of faith is of more worth than the largest fruit of happiness. - Thoreau

The Narrow Way that Leads to True ...

flawed
awed
less than broad
upon this rugged trail i trod
i talk with god
i walk with god
i sing sad and happy songs with god

he takes me places
shows me things
all that faith brings
all that morning sings
as if i had wings

pillows with mints
undeniable truth with more than subtle hints
stained glass with shimmers and glints
i stop and look over my shoulder
as my weary soul squints
all i see is one set of footprints
along with grudged remnants and smudged traces of doubt's soft, curious fingerprints

Author's Note

Pete
"Faith is the bird that feels the light when the dawn is still dark. To one who has faith, no explanation is necessary. To one without faith, no explanation is possible. Of all duties, prayer certainly is the sweetest and most easy." - Thoreau
