Eight Miles High

Eight Miles High

A Poem by Pete
"

The great art of life is how to turn the surplus life of the soul into life for the body. - Thoreau

"
a storm drinks my soaring soul | let ...

regardless of what the weatherperson had to say
it's raining spotty showers today
as the ocean kicks and tosses its spray
in between, the clouds part and god plays peekaboo
a lot with me and perhaps a little bit with you
my body gets wet but never my soul
for only sin and spent flesh lie in sheol

music, joy, peace, love, good times, memories and eternity are forever
don't let me live a broken faith's lie
save your mournful sigh
lift me up lord, now and when i die
and please
if you would
place me in the cleft of a rock as your glory passes by
not six feet under but
eight miles high

.

Author's Note

Pete
"I saw deep in the eyes of the animals the human soul look out upon me. I saw where it was born deep down under feathers and fur, or condemned for a while to roam four-footed among the brambles, I caught the clinging mute glance of the prisoner and swore that I would be faithful." - Thoreau

The emphasis is on living a righteous, happy life not death.
The mortuary will provide the casket for the 6 feet under, but if you want to go i mile high, I would join the NASA training program for astronauts or wait for your ascension by God Almighty.
Get some tickets ready for it will be a hell of a ride.
I love it!

You and your 'best' friend have certainly thought about the time, place and speed for this, Pete. Ends you know where and why.. as your mind analyses the obvious. Concludes, shares and invites free will.. in the wherever you're making for. Yes?
