Along With ForeverA Poem by PeteThe meeting of two eternities, the past and future....is precisely the present moment. - Thoreauon an old black and white zenith tv with knobs and no remote connected to an antenna through a wire running up through the attic and out to the eave of the roof things like "the untouchables" with robert stack charles bronson movies such as "hard times" throwbacks to the era from whence he came of age a different time when "amazon" was just the name of a rainforest a time when a man's handshake meant something when people didn't kiss and tell a church wasn't just a building with a steeple and bell with big windows and candles a place you passed by on your way to somewhere else and "pew" wasn't just what you said when somethings stunk dad in his corner recliner after a hard day's work me on the couch just sitting and watching together neither one us saying anything the world was ours tough as it is goodbye dad i'll see you again we'll watch tv just like we did back then you turning knobs to get rid of the snow on the screen me getting you a cold beer from the fridge at the next commercial break along with forever and doubting thomas i promise both of us together again, sitting and watching not saying a thing © 2024 PeteAuthor's Note
