Mermaid Tears

Mermaid Tears

A Poem by Pete
"

The ocean is a wilderness reaching round the globe, wilder than a Bengal jungle, and fuller of monsters, washing the very wharves of our cities and the gardens of our sea-side residences. - Thoreau

"
What is Sea Glass, and Where Can You ...

sea wash over me
polishing awkward edges
revealing brave hues

Author's Note

Pete
"The sea-shore is a sort of neutral ground, a most advantageous point from which to contemplate this world. It is even a trivial place. The waves forever rolling to the land are too far-travelled and untamable to be familiar. Creeping along the endless beach amid the sun-squall and the foam, it occurs to us that we, too, are the product of sea-slime." - Thoreau

Hi Pete
I looked at the photo real carefully, and to me it looked like a lot of recyclables....couldn't find any water!
however there is some beauty in the pattern glass produces as it moves slowly, trudging along, sun's reflection...the colors are amazing... it this part of nature? or is should it be collected and..
very imaginative while I'm listening to Jimmy Hendricks....

This wonderful micro-poem is absolutely breathtaking! So much said in so few words. I love the thought of asking the sea to remove any rough edges during a swim. The sea is the perfect place to enter another world and experience its many wonders. I absolutely love the chosen image which enhances the words of this excellently penned poem. Would love to visit a beach with such beautiful sea glass! Kudos on inking such a delightful gem! Thank you for sharing, Pete...

Sea glass is so pretty and i feel like the whole concept of the waves weathering the jagged edges and creating a masterpiece is such a heartwarming phenomenon. It just shows how beauty can be found even in damaged things.
