He who would have nothing to do with thorns must never attempt to gather flowers. - Thoreau. please, if you will i picked some flowers todayroses by the old brick mill from two bushes straining under the weight of countless blooms wildflowers near the river's left bank yet more by the side of a peace-seeking road took them home and arranged them in a crystal vase with some water to imbibe sanguine roses saffron yellows devoted purples stilted, lightsome violets finished, i stood back and admired them intricate delicate loving strong, silent, unassuming boldness the magnificence and beauty of these creations who or what could have conceived of such things let alone make them at that moment, a tear came to my eye please don't ask me to explain why think i'll put my tear in the vase and the vase on the window sill at least until ... . © 2024 PeteAuthor's Note
