About A Quarter To Eight

About A Quarter To Eight

A Poem by Pete
"

Faith, indeed, is all the reform that is needed; it is itself a reform. - Thoreau

Minimal Orange clock 745 ...

roll with the punches
do some stomach crunches
as the man in the moon's face wrinkles and his nose scrunches
out with the tide
open your eyes wider than wide
see what you don't want to see
as you end up being what you never thought you'd be
squirm like a lowly, earthly worm
as you drip faith's sticky, life-giving sperm
pray, swear and reaffirm
know that it's better to challenge than to learn

cut me open
watch me bleed music
try to find my soul
get baptized when it's frigidly cold
wear a woolen hat when it's hot
show them everything you've got
before you grow too weak and old
show heaven your tattoo
if it's the last thing you ever do
meet me at the gate
before it's too damned late
at about a quarter to eight
