Double Clutching

Double Clutching

A Poem by Pete
"

Those undeserved joys which come uncalled and make us more pleased than grateful are they that sing. - Thoreau

"
My Doodle Puppy

granting my faithful, four-legged companion free reign
i laid down on a carpet of vernal grass
he rolled and frolicked about
squirming and slithering upside down beside me
touching
belly rubs his pleasure
an explosion of unfettered, freewheeling whimsy
jumping on and off of me
occasional sprints at full speed in circles about
the pinnacle of liberation's merriment without the shout

in a coronation of laughter
a matriculation in an unfettered, faded, institution
for a time i had no troubles, no worries
nary a care
both of us wearing pure, uninhibited happiness
joy if you will
curious, jealous clouds congregated above with puffed-out chests
a hint of eternity along with a blessing in the late may air
souls touching
double clutching
aye, a very special prayer
