A Poem by Pete
"

I was born upon thy bank, river, my blood flows in thy stream, and thou meanderest forever, at the bottom of my dream. - Thoreau

"
Spring photo-Flowering dogwood tree ...
drawn like a wistful magnet
I spy untold wealth at its bank
a secret depository in which ii'm the only one with an account
on an obsequious, mid-vernal day
tossing handfuls of confettied, flowered snow
a lenient spring breeze blows spent, hued dogwood petals into the shiftless river down below
the waterway gurgles mellifluously at its new-found, deposited wealth
coveting it all, if not in reticence
then in brilliant, masterful, diligent stealth

Author's Note

Pete
"The life in us is like the water in the river. It may rise this year higher than man has ever known it, and flood the parched uplands; even this may be the eventful year, which will drown out all our muskrats. It was not always dry land where we dwell." - Thoreau

What should I praise first,.. the enchanting words that make me feel the 'gurgle' of stream or the profound wisdom behind the scene!
