Please, Sit Next To Me

Please, Sit Next To Me

A Poem by Pete
"

The church is a sort of hospital for men's souls and as full of quackery as the hospital for their bodies. - Thoreau

"
The Parable of the Empty Pew

"yes, 11:00, that's right, why don't you come along"

people frequently invite me to their church
i can't help but wonder about their motive
do they seek to convert me to their denomination
want more in the collection plate
or desire more hands to hold

in case their way turns out to be wrong

Author's Note

Pete
"Action from principle, the perception and the performance of right, changes things and relations; it is essentially revolutionary, and does not consist wholly with anything which was. It not only divides States and churches, it divides families; ay, it divides the individual, separating the diabolical in him from the divine." - Thoreau

It is a very sensitive place as the faith and emotions speak here. Sometimes, it also brings some honest tears, and brokenness for the very same reasons. We love to stay in a well-defined place that includes our delicate expectation. A good proportion can be the cure. A beautiful write!
I wish everyone's peace stays in an alignment with the direction where the heart is calling.
