Locked, Loaded And Unexploded

Locked, Loaded And Unexploded

A Poem by Pete
"

The savage in man is never quite eradicated. - Thoreau

"
deep jungle from another world, beautiful jungle | Stable Diffusion

somewhere in the nowhere-land of jaded illusion
hidden in deaf, large-leafed trees
where jungle birds incessantly mock
sometime in an invading eternity
when time stops ticking
deep in the grey matter of loneliness and fear
confusion scouts, signals and is here
where clouds rule
rain weeps
and thunder clears its throat in a sinister plot of ambushed entrapment and ripe, raping pilferage
morning takes a profound breath of life
following a night that exhales stagnant death

the war rages in the twisted steel of a rusted, concertina-wired brain
in a thoughtless, unstoppable barrage of automatic, emotional, gunfire
banana clip, bulleted magazines and steel, explosive, soul-stealing pineapples loaded with imprisoned feelings and emotions
too old for trick-or-treat
you hear the whispered click of a landmine's detonator 'neath your weary, unexpecting feet
when you least want a repeat

a fight-to-the-death, sneak attack
where blues turns to black
and craters form from a directionless twister's spinning crack
an advancing army of everything you lack
so remember to step softly
and watch your mind's back

The confusion of war. I stood with the First Cav. Division on the Iraq border. I believe soldiers don't fear death. They fear the ending. My unit clean-up Death valley in Iraq. Many Iraq soldiers in pieces. They wanted their homes, they called out to wife and mama. War is ugly and messy. Today we fight wars to test weapons. Human life had no value. In Ukraine, Russia and Palestine. Just numbers. Not names. Powerful and worthwhile poetry shared my friend.

It is very hard to believe those same humans who introduced science and technology to the man's benefits and advancements are the same ones taking lives of other humans.

Human warfare is hard to bear; fight over land, religion, power, greed, superiority, land grab, stolen ideas, false hopes, crazy egos and much more.
How many genocides, massacres, ethnic cleansing had been done by all religions, groups, countries in the name of their God.
Nothing has changed; it is getting worse. Any miscalculation, then hell will break loose in a nuclear exchange. The genie is out folks, so be prepared for the worse.

I don't think he is bluffing. He is waiting for the right moment to execute. Goodbye you all.
