A Tree In Which Many Crows Have Rest by Hiroshi Watanabe

sitting at the kitchen table, the one with coffee rings like those inside trees
staring out the window
the crows outside are squawking and kicking up a fuss
waiting for a winged, march bus as they curse and cuss
engaged in an early morning ruckus

i contemplate my mortality
is there really a heaven and a hell
where does my fate lie
should i care when i die
is it a sin to even doubt
praying to god, i raise my voice to a shout

what's the truth
did a virgin really give birth
did dinosaurs walk this earth
does faith determine my worth
have i got it right or wrong
no manifesto of what they say
the crows finally iron things out and fly away
with my headphones at the ready, it's time for another song
an eternity only seems long
