Nestling

Nestling

A Poem by Pete
"

Faith keeps many doubts in her pay. If I could not doubt, I should not believe. - Thoreau

"
Shouting at God: Looking for Answers in Suffering

like job of biblical fame and arguable infamy, in my beyond deep distress and despair, i cry out to god
"why, lord, why"
"why do you allow these things to come upon me"
"can't you see what it's done and keeps doing to me"
"enough already, please"

my state is deadening
the ensuing silence deafening
the sky threatening
the devil meddling

i see and hear the nearby water flowing in the river
a needed reminder that my lord is not a taker but a giver
faith and angels in heaven are wrestling
as my inseparable, four-legged companion milo draws near to me
nestling

Author's Note

Pete
“It is not when I am going to meet him, but when I am just turning away and leaving him alone, that I discover what God is. I say, God. I am not sure that that is the name. You will know what I mean.” - Thoreau

I enjoyed your poem, Pete. "God only knows, God makes His plan, the information's unavailable to the mortal man" Paul Simon from "Slip Sliding Away" We all fail and fall short in our efforts at being "good" but it doesn't mean we should stop trying. If God hasn't given up on us then neither should we give up on Him. It's too easy to blame the sun for shadows when shadows are actually caused by the object in the path of light, absorbing and blocking the radiance. The earth also turns away from the sun but that is good. It keeps the earth from being blistered and burned. Nothing can survive the scrutiny of bright light for long but when it is night we all wait and pray for a new morning and another chance. It seems only natural to me.

I cling to God when things aren’t going right. I question lot of things but I know god has a plan
