Let There Be Light

Let There Be Light

A Poem by Pete
"

Every sunset which I witness inspires me with the desire to go to a west as distant and as fair as that into which the sun goes down. - Thoreau

"
31 Winter Sunsets ideas | winter sunset, winter scenes ...

dusk inconspicuously begins to lower the boom as it draws its weighty curtain
everything and everyone altered to alzheimered remnants
mere silhouettes of their former, solarized, diurnal selves
sorrowful air molecules scurry away in shorter wavelengths with their tails 'tween their microscopic legs
only that remaining light able to penetrate the atmosphere steps up to the microphone
vocalizing a bipolar reality
in passionate, translucent hues
through movie-star spectacles

what a show
what a glow
blow-by-blow
crouching at a horizon low
impressionistic in tow
in spite of though

butterfly ochres
mustard ambers
tangerine oranges
carmine, gridelin reds
violet, lavender, marooned and rippled lagoons
cinnamon, indigo, denims
eminences of royal, robed, rhetorical purpurates
scarlet, crimson, cerise
extremist, manifesto shades of staunch, communist pink
i wonder what the creator's airbrushed word knows to think
careful, you'll miss a divine, concerto, spectacle if you dare to blink

Author's Note

Pete
"We never tire of the drama of sunset. I go forth each afternoon and look into the west a quarter of an hour before sunset, with fresh curiosity, to see what new picture will be painted there, what new panorama exhibited, what new dissolving views. […] Every day a new picture is painted and framed, held up for half and hour, in such lights as the Great Artist chooses, and then withdrawn, and the curtain falls." - Thoreau

Ahh twilight with its pinks deep red and purples is one of my favorite times of the day with all its dramatic coloring of the once blue sky. Love all the imagery and descriptions poured into this eye catching piece
