Masquerade CharadeA Poem by PeteIt takes two to speak the truth: one to speak, and another to hear. - Thoreauwearing glasses with only one lens a facade twists and pretends the sandman's throwing dirt at indifferent faces no footprints, no traces a half-naked, veiled, dance from an evil temptress plying certainty in order to coerce a fib to confess two-faced folks pass by as under their hurried breaths they mumble, "god bless" breathing carbon dioxide, exhaling gunk and funk not to mention all the other recycled junk raggedy air through a permanent, plastic, gemmed, covid mask no one cares, no one even stops to ask sporting high-top sneakers with no souls ignoring all the rips, tears and holes spitting tearscrying blood shards of glass from shattered mirrors digging into our calloused feet leery of everyone we meet or greet everything baked into an unrisen, no-layer cake including the dirty, ringed kitchen sink 'tis all about what we feel hardly what we think actuality has no need to blink © 2024 PeteAuthor's Note
