If a man does not keep pace with his companions, perhaps it is because he hears a different drummer. Let him step to the music which he hears, however measured or far away. - Thoreau
this world sucks me in and upchucks me out
not even having the decency to cover any spilled remnants with dirt
you have to say something suddenly to blurt
go back to revert
be confident to assert
attracted to flirt
you needn't bend over backwards to look up a windblown skirt
it's hard to fasten a buttonless shirt
or play a game of hopscotch with someone naturally, abundantly bosomed and stridently pert
Cleverly rhythmic words. 'Have a strong feeling that you could have continued on and on with words that made sense - although different scents and scenes!
:) Now tell me, what would Thoreau had said about,
'you needn't bend over backwards to look up a windblown skirt
it's hard to fasten a buttonless shirt
or play a game of hopscotch with someone naturally, abundantly bosomed and stridently pert
it sometimes takes surprisingly little to be hurt
like this summer hill that i live atop
why can't i too, like it, be inert'

i often feel very empty, lonely and unfulfilled. i long for a new driving purpose and significant other but fear making a mistake or taking steps to obtain. after losing everything i've been forced to confront nothing but the truth of myself and it can be scary now that i am older and questionably wiser.
thoreau said that, "Happiness is like a butterfly, the more you chase it, the more it will elude, but if you turn your attention to other things, it will come and sit softly on your shoulder." no butterflies have come sit on my shoulder.
in the 1800's he was accused of running away and hiding from life at walden pond. that is debatable but he said that is we who are afraid of facing the truths of ourselves by stripping away the frivolities of life. i feel as though the window of my ivory tower cannot be broken but it can, to live and breathe is risk. i vacillate between to different plains and am stick in the middle on a road to nowhere.
i believe einstein said that, "Insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results."
maybe those who cannot do instead ramble and write ... :)
