Royal Straight Flush (But Anyway)

mother said to, "sit up straight"

and "always clean your plate"

she also said that, "when emptying the fire pit, be careful not to breathe in the soot"

no matter what i was doing, she always seemed to have input

these are just a few of the things she would say

along with, "sometimes you have to learn the hard way"

"oh mom", i would reply, "you don't know what you're talking about"

"just be quiet and get out"

but there was little doubt

that none of her wisdom was so valuable as when she advised to, "always flush the toilet in a public restroom with your foot"

turns out she was right

'bout how to avoid a potentially fatal plight

'tis indeed best not to touch a shared flapper

heavens no, not on a germ-laden, community crapper

she also had something to say about, "all work and no play"

along with warnings about the consequences of having, "a roll in the hay"

i'll save that for another day

but anyway ...
