Yet Another Dimension (Beg, Borrow or Steal)A Poem by PeteAs if you could kill time without injuring eternity. - Thoreauthe loose, spare days that i placed on top of the dresser last night are missing along with the change from spent weeks and months lost between the sofa cushions i get up to spend another crisp, new day you innocently bump into me on the street as you stealthily reach into my pocket in a blur pilfering a few wrinkled, folded years as you smile and say, "sorry, please excuse me sir" until finally one day i meet you in a dark alley you're standing in front of me, blocking my path with no way around "excuse me", i say "hand it over", you reply "how much", i respond "everything", you say, "all of it, the whole enchilada, not just a little while" this time your hand is in your own pocket clutching cold, black steel, your face is covered and there's no smile © 2023 PeteAuthor's Note
