Rock Lobster

Rock Lobster

A Poem by Pete
"

My life is like a stroll upon the beach. - Thoreau

"
Southern Rock Lobster | Fishing Tasmania

smooth like melted butter
sending the hearts of land-lubbing, lip-smacking aficionados all a-flutter
it was time to crank it
as they spread a new wave, beach blanket
bubbles and fog melodically floating over a colorful, stage panel
she, holding her breath and seemingly swimming the english channel
rocking and rolling in and out with the tide
reaching an audience far and wide

'twas a real bummer
that we only caught them that one summer
a real dish
with the backup vocals and sea-calls of various, oddly-named fish
her big hair long and neat
he, flailing his arms and stomping his feet
groovy and deep
people thought he was a chart-topping, jaw-dropping, musical mobster
turns out they were just singing and dancing whilst cracking the shell of a

rock lobster

Author's Note

Pete
"We often love to think now of the life of men on beaches, at least in midsummer, when the weather is serene; their sunny lives on the sand, amid the beach-grass and the bayberries, their companion a cow, their wealth a jag of driftwood or a few beach-plums, and their music the surf and the peep of the beach-bird." - Thoreau
