Patty Gurdy

A Poem by Pete
"

It is life near the bone where it is sweetest. - Thoreau

"
Tear Shaped, Medieval Hurdy Gurdy / Wheel Lyre / Vielle a Roue / Drehleier Fairygurdies - Etsy

with a deep longing, patty put down her cup of tea
taking time to dance exultantly 'pon bended knee
with her long, auburn hair, oh so perty
turning the crank of her hurdy-gurdy
all 'fore the tender, dutiful age of thirty-three

Author's Note

Pete
"To him no vain regrets belong whose soul, that finer instrument, gave to the world no poor lament, But wood-notes ever sweet and strong. O lonely friend! He still will be a potent presence, though unseen, Steadfast, sagacious, and serene; Seek not for him -- he is with thee." - Louisa May Alcott in her tribute to Henry David Thoreau

I've learned something new and that alone is what makes this poem a winner.....
