So Much Bountifully More Than Ho-Hum

So Much Bountifully More Than Ho-Hum

A Poem by Pete
"

There is no value in life except what you choose to place upon it and no happiness in any place except what you bring to it yourself. - Thoreau

"
Premium AI Image | Autumn leaves blowing in the wind

under golden ingots weighing down from heaven
an autumn breeze waltzes 'cross the dancefloor of my face
caressing what's left of my ego
"it's okay" it whispers
"everything will be alright"

i know not from whence it comes
even less about to where it goes
what secrets does it hold
how is it simultaneously meek and bold

secrets are secrets even in disquiet
reminding me that whirlwinds never go on a diet
off in the distance i hear the percussion of angels keeping the beat as they drum
come what will come
yet another blessed day
slow to speak despite plenty to say

so much bountifully more than ho-hum

Author's Note

Pete
“If the day and the night are such that you greet them with joy, and life emits a fragrance like flowers and sweet-scented herbs, is more elastic, more starry, more immortal- that is your success. All nature is your congratulation, and you have cause momentarily to bless yourself. The greatest gains and values are farthest from being appreciated. We easily come to doubt if they exist. We soon forget them. They are the highest reality. Perhaps the facts most astounding and most real are never communicated by man to man. The true harvest of my daily life is somewhat as intangible and indescribable as the tints of morning or evening. It is a little star-dust caught, a segment of the rainbow which I have clutched.” - Thoreau
