Marco Polo

Marco Polo

A Poem by Pete
"

Not until we are lost do we begin to understand ourselves. - Thoreau

"

marco
polo
from whence do you come
to where do you go
oh please let us know
so that we may follow
pour us water from the trevi fountain so that we may drink and swallow
better to feel than think
why did you have to write with disappearing ink
before i even had a chance to blink
never concerned with the possibility to fail
you hoisted anchor and set sail

marco
polo
thank you for pocket money
thank you for dressing funny
thank you for chopsticks
thank you for all the kicks
thank you for posting my bail
thank you for my notice, "you've got mail"
thank you for filling my plate with spaghetti
i shower you with confetti
marco
polo
teach me all that you know
show me which way to go
rid me of this woe
marco
polo
