Being Last

Being Last

A Poem by Pete
"

What lies behind us and what lies ahead of us are tiny matters compared to what lives within us. - Thoreau

"
alpha and omega
driving an old chevy vega
barely able to afford the gas
along with salicylic ghosts from the past

i walk the crowded sidewalks of what's left of my mind
never waiting for the sign to say, "walk"
back when i was a kid in school i rarely raised my hand or waited my turn to talk
i guess i never did like being last
