Win, Place or Show

A Poem by Pete
"

I have, as it were, my own sun and moon and stars, and a little world all to myself. - Thoreau

Crescent Moon (red) (seal) - Metin2 Wiki

'pon steady but changeable high heels
not what a mind thinks but what a heart feels
mascaraed eyes
rouged cheeks
smudges of lipstick 'pon an aproned night
false, batting eyelashes
a slice of moon shines low beams of mystical luminance with questionable lustre
flanked by a lone star suspended from heaven
trying to bring everything into focus
against a backdrop of truth's curtain shuttered

alas
meaningless acoutrements of life and time weigh heavily
in this ballet of eternity that we learned yesterday
twirl now
and dare dance tomorrow
steal, beg or borrow
hitching a ride on faith's gentle, confident, whispering flow
'tis not what darkness thinks but what light does know
come what will come
go what may go
in this life

Author's Note

Pete
"Many men walk by day; few walk by night. It is a very different season. Take a July night, for instance. About ten o'clock,—when man is asleep, and day fairly forgotten,—the beauty of moonlight is seen over lonely pastures where cattle are silently feeding. On all sides novelties present themselves. Instead of the sun, there are the moon and stars; instead of the wood-thrush, there is the whippoorwill; instead of butterflies in the meadows, fire-flies, winged sparks of fire!—who would have believed it? What kind of cool, deliberate life dwells in those dewy abodes associated with a spark of fire?" - Thoreau
