Win, Place or ShowA Poem by PeteI have, as it were, my own sun and moon and stars, and a little world all to myself. - Thoreau'pon steady but changeable high heels not what a mind thinks but what a heart feels mascaraed eyes rouged cheeks smudges of lipstick 'pon an aproned night false, batting eyelashes a slice of moon shines low beams of mystical luminance with questionable lustreflanked by a lone star suspended from heaven trying to bring everything into focus against a backdrop of truth's curtain shuttered alas meaningless acoutrements of life and time weigh heavily in this ballet of eternity that we learned yesterday twirl now and dare dance tomorrow steal, beg or borrow hitching a ride on faith's gentle, confident, whispering flow 'tis not what darkness thinks but what light does know come what will come go what may go in this life win, place or show © 2023 PeteAuthor's Note
