Okay, but not 'Til The Lightning Stops

Okay, but not 'Til The Lightning Stops

A Poem by Pete
"

Genius is a light which makes the darkness visible, like the lightning's flash, which perchance shatters the temple of knowledge itself. - Thoreau

"

it's about to rain
pour buckets
flashes from the past getting ever closer
trust me it's coming
the clouds' burdens heavy
i want to put on my bathing suit and go outside to play in it
mother says, "okay,  but not 'til the lightning stops"

i want to do it again now 'cept i'm no longer a child
it's been quite a while
mother recently passed
no one to tell me to wait
maybe she's in the crackles of lightning now
in the rain, wind and clouds
although she never did like crowds

it's raining
it's pouring
life can be boring
time stopping and adoring
rolling over and snoring
that bathing suit long since will no longer fit
so tell me, why do i still want to go outside and dance in it
guess i'm just outta' luck
stuck
thank heaven, at least i can still be

thunderstruck
