Eternal River - Oil on Canvas by Roz Zinns

don't bury me when i die
don't bother to cry
don't cover it up with a boldfaced lie
no need to ask how or why
don't be ashamed or shy

no

float me downriver
to god my soul deliver
season of wither
winter shiver
summer quiver
faith not an indian giver
boulder, splinter or sliver
eternity's caregiver

drawing my hither

Author's Note

Pete
"A man's real faith is never contained in his creed, nor is his creed an article of his faith. The last is never adopted. This it is that permits him to smile ever, and to live even as bravely as he does. And yet he clings anxiously to his creed, as to a straw, thinking that that does him good service because his sheet anchor does not drag." - Thoreau
