Knit One, Purl Two
A Poem by
Pete
I had three chairs in my house, one for solitude, two for friendship, three for society. - Thoreau
back 'n forth
crick creak
hide 'n seek
sweet squeak
grams is in her rocking chair mile high knee highs couple of rollers in her thinning hair
familiar, loving stare
lips mumbling an inaudible prayer
back 'n forth
crick creak
hide 'n seek
sweet squeak
as i go over and bend down
trying to give her my customary peck on the cheek
perhaps not quite
i have to time it just right
knowing that the interval is tight
taking my cue
knit one, purl two
back 'n forth
crick creak
hide 'n seek
sweet squeak

You captured the sweet essence of a sweet older lady knitting here was it about your grandmother a lovely tribute to her
I crochet not a grandmother
I used to have a wooden second hand rocking chair it broke from too many rocks
There’s something I love about your poem can’t quite get my finger around the wool of it
Loved it 😍
