Just The Sun At Night

Just The Sun At Night

A Poem by Pete
"

I have had twenty-five or thirty souls, with their bodies, at once under my roof, and yet we often parted without being aware that we had come very near to one another. - Thoreau

"
Man and Woman Sitting on Wooden Fence Against the Moonlight Stock Illustration - Illustration of romance, rendering: 149068785

going insane
amidst recurring, jealous dreams of dying all the time
his name bearing the title of a melville novel
their love a mere footnote below
a haunting whale of a tale
sedate piano keys sounding like apologetic broken glass marching in scale to a mellifluous melodrama
tickled ivories that sympathize
flying horses on a carousel to nowhere
echoes of unheard meanings
who wanted whom

teary eyes blinking sorrow
today trying to make way for tomorrow
beg, steal or borrow
amidst chants of stratospheric redundancy
crooning with a kaleidoscopic mind
apologizing for hurting
no hello
at least he said, "goodbye"
at least he confessed his lie
oculus of vulnerable hearts beating true within
not bothering to wipe the tears from atop ancient porcelain

Author's Note

Pete
"The moon gravitates toward the earth, and the earth reciprocally toward the moon. The poet who walks by moonlight is conscious of a tide in his thought which is to be referred to lunar influence. I will endeavor to separate the tide in my thoughts from the current distractions of the day." - Thoreau

If we ask for too much, we may not receive it; this is a very deep poem, complex and beautiful... the video was mesmerizing.... love, the moon ,the tides..."crooning a kaleidoscope mind".... this was a journey of the cosmos....the moon, the earth gravitating toward each other....as I said a kaleidoscope of meaning words....

You know that old saying, "Be careful what you wish for...it just might eat you."
Passion leads many to success and many to their doom. Be nice to passion and t will be nice to you.

Such a perfect Melville write. Linked, possibly obscure, complex and unarguably rich. Sad, informative, beautiful.I love it. Almost a love poem of the first order.
