And God Said ...

And God Said ...

A Poem by Pete
"

Remember that the smallest seed of faith is of more worth than the largest fruit of happiness. - Thoreau

"
And God Said “Let There Be Light” (RJS) | RJS

on the weary, weathered bench down by the inlet
i cry out, "father, why have you forsaken me"

the response hits me stiffly in the face, as well it should
on the wings of an unmistakable breeze
sun blinding my teary eyes
sobering all of man's blind, selfish lies

"if i had forsaken you, then who are you talking to?"
"still here, able to lift your head up to my heavenly skies"
only doubt cries

true faith never wears a disguise let alone dies ...

Author's Note

Pete
"A man's real faith is never contained in his creed, nor is his creed an article of his faith. The last is never adopted. This it is that permits him to smile ever, and to live even as bravely as he does. And yet he clings anxiously to his creed, as to a straw, thinking that that does him good service because his sheet anchor does not drag." - Thoreau

If courage is the will to fight on in the face of fear, perhaps faith is the will to endure in the face of doubt.

Exactly, we believe what we believe and if we don't think they are there, quit calling on them in times of need. It always makes me chuckle a bit to hear someone is praying for rain but is not holding an umbrella when they do.

Yes exactly...to whom are we speaking...if he is no longer there?
He's listening...he just answers in his own time.
but he will answer...we may not always like the answers...but then
if our prayers are selfish..what do we expect?
