Workin' For The Man

i'm tired
tired
so damned tired
of phony people draped in pretense
wearing the faux fur of false airs
playing a game
wearing tags with someone else's name
turning insane to sane

when did it become unacceptable to be real
to be genuine
to care and feel
why has being transparent and true become such a big deal
it's not the praying but the willingness to kneel
a sneaker doesn't have a heel
there must be fire to forge steel
after all
the best ships sail with an even keel

you don't have to listen to a word i say
night is night and day is day
june always follows may
it's best to plug in and warm up before you play
clay is always mud but mud isn't always clay
it's easy to pull out plastic when it's time to pay
think what you like and say what you may
you're workin' for the man at mca

Thank you,
Insincere and two faced people are everywhere. We need to recognize them and know what they say is not real. "wearing the faux fur of false airs" what a brilliant line this is, Pete! Love Lynryd Skynyrd! Glad I visited this one. Lydi***
