Misgivings

Misgivings

A Poem by Pete
"

Nothing is so much to be feared as fear. - Thoreau

"
An Expert in Fear - The New York Times

sucking on an adamantine pit
i pull the pin from the grenade but am too afraid to throw it
expecting a medal
i take off the training wheels but am too scared to peddle
gnawing on bitter, impenetrable rinds
trying to raise yesterday's blinds
spitting out the seeds of tomorrow
trying to steal courage when i can't even borrow

i hear fright's loathsome knell
so i run like hell
confidence quaking
resolve breaking
as i hit a seemingly impenetrable wall

of my own damned making

You got me worried now;I hope you don't have Parkinson's. I saw you're taking those pills 💊 I hope it is figurative. In anyway, this was a worthy poem on fear. Also quoting your muse made it even better.
