A Poem by Pete
"

The man who goes alone can start today; but he who travels with another must wait till that other is ready. - Thoreau || Never look back unless you are planning to go that way. - Thoreau

Whatever happened to that old truck on the Waltons? Description from flickr.com. I searched for this on bing.com/images | Old trucks, The waltons tv show, Tv cars

no one stops
not an indigo, denim moon
not even a foster grant sun
no one
even though i stand here with an outstretched thumb

just as i'm about to give up
wait, someone's coming by
with a window rolled down in an old truck
acting all coy
as i hear a familiar, alluring voice say

goodnight john boy

Author's Note

Pete
“I would rather ride on earth in an ox cart, with a free circulation, than go to heaven in the fancy car of an excursion train and breathe a malaria all the way...But lo! men have become the tools of their tools...We have built for this world a family mansion, and for the next a family tomb.” - Thoreau

To be wild n free is Gods gift
Man has made prisons for themselves
In their gilded gold cages of loans to banks
Yes govts encouraged all these huge house loans
Give me an open road a little car and a picnic basket and rug and stop at the river
Simple life
I think things went pear shaped after the internet and mobile phones introduced

Loved your poem it left the reader many ways to interpret

I feel the poet is hardening to the simple days, simple pleasures and simple humanity. Those technologies will become rusted metal or fail us. Relationships endure and humanity survives.
