For many years I was self-appointed inspector of snow-storms and rain-storms, and did my duty faithfully. -Thoreau

Rain drops on glass and snow - Free Image on 4 Free Photos

torn 'tween logic and reason
caught in a freefalling hung jury of season
a schism of state
back and forth change and sway
their own version of d-day
not quite sure which way to go
clouds doing due diligence and wringing out like sponges
as time fibs and  mercury plunges

in a confusion of march clovers under the guise of december jingles
raindrops fell like midmorning paratroopers
some pulling ripcords of snowflakes in a reception of cold air received
others sneaking past the doorman with their hands in pockets of warmth

drops and flakes eventually crashing to the ground
some realizing that they'd forgotten helmets of calendar
dismembered
dead on arrival in puddles of those who had in fact remembered
heroed flakes making the ultimate sacrifice in a fallen glisten
resolving a dividing conflict
completing yet another undercover mission

“Nature confounds her summer distinctions at this season. The heavens seem to be nearer the earth. The elements are less reserved and distinct. Water turns to ice, rain to snow. The day is but a Scandinavian night. The winter is an arctic summer.” - Thoreau
