Forever Man

Forever Man

A Poem by Pete
"

As I love nature, as I love singing birds ... I love thee, my friend. - Thoreau

"
How Do Starling Flocks Create Those Mesmerizing Murmurations? | All About Birds All About Birds

where hills wave and trees crouch to beckon
where sometimes i know and other times i reckon
i remember you yesterday
i recollect you today
not sure if i'll know you tomorrow
beg, steal or borrow
living on a broken heart's credit to pay longing sorrow

not sure what to say
as faith lends a weary ear to yet another lonely day
come to me my chatty sweet
draw nigh my loquacious darling
return back to me oh iridescent, confectionate starling

croon me a verse
let me listen as you rehearse
just sing me a word
oh gregarious, old world songbird
let me join your band
make me a

forever man

Author's Note

Pete
"It would be well, perhaps, if we were to spend more of our days and nights without any obstruction between us and the celestial bodies, if the poet did not speak so much from under a roof, or the saint dwell there so long. Birds do not sing in caves, nor do doves cherish their innocence in dovecots." - Thoreau
