Eternity Surrendered

Eternity Surrendered

A Poem by Pete
"

As if you could kill time without injuring eternity.- Thoreau

"
Time is brushed with divine, intertwined with eternity: Mary Marrocco - The Dialog

nails
crosses
thorny crowns
angels and demons
tucked neatly away for another day
inwardly unavowed
in bastions of clandestine proclivity
thick walls
guarded by stoic, staring sentries
unrollable boulders
unearthed surreptitiously
blue skies and mud floors
smiles, tears and locked doors
candles, vigils and tears
lonely years

worn prayers and naysayers
a crying onion's peeled layers
rarely spoken
time awoken
hearts remembered but broken
forgiveness the missing token
these things we thought we knew
these things we miss
whispering forever
in the lips of a desiccated kiss
conjoined souls distempered
narcissistic twins self centered
teetering on the edge of reason
holding onto a beheaded, sacrificial season
hemmed in the indecisive, frayed, dragged, cuffs of pompous past and surrendered future
where it's midnight forever
burial grounds revisited
lost love remembered

eternity surrendered

Pete
"You must live in the present, launch yourself on every wave, find your eternity in each moment. Fools stand on their island of opportunities and look toward another land. There is no other land; there is no other life but this." - Thoreau
