Affection Injection

Affection Injection

waiting with baited, hooked and swallowed breath
on a backdrop of sad, wanting, shopping blues
tracking the number that gives arrival clues
orange, swooshing arrow pointing the way to anything and everything from a to z
all that life needs and could be
in yet another miraculous, uplifting touch from bubble-wrapped heaven
twenty-four seven
another browsing fix
wanting hands and eagle eyes scavenging with a trembling point and click

primed in the womb of a cold, steel, warehoused, watchtower
anxious for both day and hour
in a perverted copulation of packaged affection
knowing not from whence it comes or from which direction
joyous tears with nowhere to hide
a once wealthy, vernal cache of cross-eyed abundance crouching down to drink from a spent, plastic river
she waits for the amazon truck

desperately eager for what it will deliver

Yes, the Amazon vans pull in and out of our local driveways with great frequency. I'm hoping Amazon will start a cremation service wherein a van will deliver my packaged ashes to my garage door early so my wife can put them on the mantelpiece before lunch.
