Window Washer (Watcher)

Window Washer (Watcher)

A Poem by Pete
"

And yet…on this morning, I lose sight of oncoming change and sit by the window in a shaft of sunlight; the day gains immediacy. - Thoreau

"soft, what light through yonder window breaks"
what's left of my quixotic mind leans 'pon a cheesy, hoary kickstand as my pride suffers and back aches
along with faux crutches sporting a padded tilt
i search for love along with life's elusive, evasive meaning
mostly lost, rarely gleaning
only coming to realize that
my windows need cleaning

never quite able to rustle up a sudsy bucket or rosy squeegee
golly gee
shame on me
it's getting harder and harder to see
let alone find the missing key of
"to be or not to be"

Your writing is always an engaging read, Pete. So masterfully constructed and construed. Always a pleasure to indulge the impressions of Thoreau. You orchestrate his brilliance well my friend.

Now, on another note...are you ready for some FOOTBALL?!

A heartfelt poem about weariness, aging with all the aches and pains, eyesight diminishing .... not the window pane or is it both? very soft images and excellent scene description.....we all experience this so I can really identify....
Best, B
