Less Is More

Less Is More

A Poem by Pete
"

The price of anything is the amount of life you exchange for it. - Thoreau

"
Homeless man dives into dumpster to retrieve lottery ticket worth $4.82M

prince of the dumpster dive
newly ordained king of the high five
in an under-the-radar sneak attack
low riding pants exposing an old, fissured crack
i'll never forget that heavy, leaden day
made so much lighter and brighter on the path of a fresh, radical way
pensively standing there, rubbing your scratch ticket
all that you owed me presenting a bit of a sticky wicket

erupting with newfound possibilities
an opportunity to eradicate old hostilities
worn, pounding humdrums losing an old life's dreary beat
the fragilely, licked lips of parvenu oh so sweet
neither wanting to ever look nor go back
a new life without want or lack
too bad it all ended so soon
with a massive heart attack

One man's trash...I am floored each time I walk into a convenience store and see discarded losing scratch off tickets littering the ground...what I see are dollar bills laying in the parking lot. But I guess that is how they fuel their dreams though hardly none of them ever get there. Very creative my friend,

Less is more, more or less. Sorry excuse the pun I couldn’t help myself. Well written Pete, the plight of the homeless is a sad one for us and just an ordinary day of survival for them poor souls. Interesting fact some years ago which was triggered by you mentioning dumpster and heart attack was many people have a heart attack brought on by the strain of doing a number 2. Got to keep those fluids up! At the time it was up there with the number one killers. Business as usual , they say!
