"

Surely one may as profitably be soaked in the juices of a swamp for one day as pick his way dry-shod over sand. Cold and damp ? are they not as rich experience as warmth and dryness? - Thoreau

Cranberry Bog Tours | Red Jacket Resorts

obediently raking it all in
i tread upon the sourful cranberries of the past
mixing it with the pleasant, suavitude of hope
squeezing out the last bit of juice from heaven's faithful press
a bittersweet harvest never the less
dressed in the rich, ripe, plenteous sauce of thanksgiving
refusing to get bogged down

Author's Note

Pete
“Many of our days should be spent, not in vain expectations and lying on our oars, but in carrying out deliberately and faithfully the hundred little purposes which every man’s genius must have suggested to him. Let not your life be wholly without an object, though it be only to ascertain the flavor of a cranberry, for it will not be only the quality of an insignificant berry that you will have tasted, but the flavor of your life to that extent, and it will be such a sauce as no wealth can buy.” - Thoreau

I think you are the one I saw on that commercial about cranberries. I love them along with their juice. They should have your pic on the bottles. They will be heavenly and healthy. Kidding.
Excellent and different poem from you...
