Hot Lead

Hot Lead

A Poem by Pete
"

I only desire sincere relations with the worthiest of my acquaintance, that they may give me an opportunity once in a year to speak the truth. - Thoreau

"
Hofner Ltd Edition

with a guitar of accord slung zealously way down low
loaded to the hilt
no petty remorse and no nagging guilt
six strings aimed at your heart and head
"boom boom", i intently said

your sore thumb cocked patently back
in a shameless, strategic, frontal attack
you pointed your crooked fingers back at me
standing your ground with nary an inkling to flee
"bang bang", was your antagonistic reply
no fear that such a confrontation could cause either or both of us to up and die
i'd have let you finish the poem
but it's much too late for dread
you're already dead
full of

hot lead

"Though my life is low, if my spirit looks upward habitually at an elevated angle, it is as if it were redeemed. When the desire to be better than we are is really sincere we are instantly elevated, and so far better already." - Thoreau

What a clever piece, and so impactful. I commend you for showcasing two fingers in your presentation. I used to play cowboys and indians when I was a kid, but my gun only had one finger. Hey, I was a girl, what did I know. Cool presentation, Pete! Happy New Year!

thank you for sharing the ammunition of your thoughts mauricio ... :)
What a strong piece of writing Pete. It reminded me of kids play when we would point fingers at each other and shout bang bang you’re dead. Yet here we are and grown ups are doing it all the time. Blew me away this did. Happy new year to you.

"You shot me down, Bang Bang..." lol.

The energy that comes rushing from your words and as your poem goes down, is enthusiast. it beats up to the sky with high positivity... your guitar is the engine, your pen, your music, your poetry, your truth!
