"We are ever dying to one world and being born into another. Even trees do not die without a groan. Death is beautiful when seen to be a law, and not an accident. It is as common as life." - Thoreau

Absolutely captured imagery of what we all hope for more time, more ways to stop and kiss the sky. Reaches across this animal land of time while trying to live flying with the eagles of lost feelings. Very delicate simple words yet how you paint them is very enlightening, potent and makes me ask for questions the whole existential angst of nuances craving into our permanent bones crying for rain. The Line
"silently
unknowingly shy
afraid to stop and kiss the sky
we all die
like the last slice of a deep dish pie
forgetting cordial hellos remembering greedy goodbye." Really puts back the feeling to the reader of closure as( Alan Watts) can end my sayings with " But the attitude of faith is to let go, and become open to truth, whatever it might turn out to be." sincerely your friend in writing in life and poetry

i think that when we can stand firmly in faith when the wheels are coming off then time and what it brings become irrelevant because we have a firm foundation for the present as thoreau reminds. thank you for sharing thoughts andrew ... :)

Usually when I read you, I'm filled with six different ways to interpret your words. But in this case, I was at a loss during the first read-thru. Upon a second reading, I still had to ponder a while, but then finally decided that your poem represents how messy & confusing life can be when we dive into living with all we've got, rather than holding back & going at it in a timid way. It's like downhill snow skiing, where you have to put your face into the drop, not sit back on your heels. That's the sensation I got from reading this (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie

on a narrow path with my writes but they have a tendency to morph and grow wider as they materialize. there is often more than one interpretation possible but my themes are usually consistent on life, troubles, faith etc. as you well know by now. i love your interpretation. as i have frequently mentioned, with you around, i don't need to write descriptions although is best left to the reader to interpret i believe. thank you margie ... :)
as ian anderson wrote in the jethro tull song thick as a brick,
"Really don't mind if you sit this one out
My word's but a whisper your deafness a shout
I may make you feel but I can't make you think
Your sperm's in the gutter your love's in the sink

I like the flow your poem has and the message that rides that wave so evenly to the end. Seeing the oldies song in your note as well as your quote brought a new depth to your poem as well. Wonderfully penned! Tyfs
