lily-white cowardice

verdant invidia

embarrassed rubescence

sullen silver

bittersweet blues

black and boo-hoos

a palette of colors

a cannonball of exploding hues

a parasol of parsimonious pigment

not just an idea but a figment

insane in the membrane

no need to explain

hands and fingers with flare and knack

launching a sneak attack

dabbing feeling

smearing emotion

with narrow excuses and wide reasons

capturing the essence of life's seasons

and heartbreak's treasons

a tilted tray of scrumptious, mouth-watering hors d'oeuvres

imagine the nerve

Great descriptive imagery Pete, had me off in the clouds where covid 19 rules over black lives matter and in between two nut heads fight it out with background music Two tribes go to war! And while covid kills, people fight for their amendments to be free rather than be safe from the disease. Yes it’s another ok corral where shooting your mouth off is just as important as wearing a gun in these gun waving times! This is America Folks and now let’s bring you 99 tv channels of pure entertainment and what Made in China is doing to the world! Great write Pete, had me going

thanks for weighing in andrew. ugh - you've certainly hit the buttons that are currently being pressed as heads spin. by the way, great song you mention - Two Tribes by Frankie Goes to Hollywood. apparently when manufacturing was moved to china it included deadly viruses. if mouths shot bullets, we'd all be dead for sure ... :)

In recent weeks, you've been experimenting with an array of different styles, but this poem throws me back solidly into the embrace of your "original" style as I have come to think of it. Here you have all your snappy rhyming, alliteration, flippant sass, cocky syncopation, & truly brilliant word crafting genius on display & it's as if you've pumped up the volume by pruning back some of the longer rambling lines, your shorter lines feel like hammer blows!
