Just This Once

Just This Once

A Poem by Pete
"

I am sorry to think that you do not get a man's most effective criticism until you provoke him. Severe truth is expressed with some bitterness. - Thoreau

"
hiding in the shadows Archives - Stuff Monsters Like

up in your attic
down in your basement
behind closed doors
under the covers
beneath the band-aids
behind the dark shades

brush the cobwebs aside
along with your foolish pride
take everything off
show me what makes you you
tell me why you do what you do
stop hiding behind lies and be true

quit running away
stop hugging the night and shunning the day

come out from behind that facade
unshackle the handcuffs of fraud
admit that you're flawed

let me in
give me your PIN
it isn't a sin

i'm tired of being your dunce

please babe

just this once

Author's Note

Pete
"Men rush to California and Australia as if the true gold were to be found in that direction but that is to go to the very opposite extreme to where it lies. They go prospecting farther and farther away from the true lead, and are most unfortunate when they think themselves most successful." - Thoreau
