Now And Then

Now And Then

A Poem by Pete

We cannot well do without our sins; they are the highway of our virtue. - Thoreau

sewer-hole - Haaker

i know you in hell
i knew you in heaven

before you could walk
before you could talk
before the sin beat you down

before the devil came around

before the flames came
before you knew pain

before you bled
before you were dead

before the sewer cover was lifted
before your soul was sifted

before your faith became jaded
before your ivory tower faded

before your train went off the track

when you still had a chance to turn back

i knew you
