Got a Light?

Got a Light?

A Poem by Pete
"

However mean your life is, meet it and live it; do not shun it and call it hard names. It is not so bad as you are. - Thoreau

"
A man fiddling around with cigarette butts in the Theater District ...

The depressed mecca where I've currently been deposited without a passbook is at best alarming.
Spent beer cans, booze bottles, cigarettes, needles, condoms and smashed-dream lottery tickets litter the despondent streets.
Handwritten, cardboard signs plead lost causes.
Not only would they kill me for a cigarette here,
they'd want a light too ...

Pete
"As you simplify your life, the laws of the universe will be simpler; solitude will not be solitude, poverty will not be poverty, nor weakness weakness. However mean your life is, meet it and live it. " - Thoreau
