God Never Stands in Line

God Never Stands in Line

A Poem by Pete
"

What are men celebrating? They are all on a committee of arrangements, and hourly expect a speech from somebody. God is only the president of the day, and Webster is his orator. - Thoreau

"
Rise in LA County homelessness brings shifts in the San Fernando ...

Awakening from a sedate, Heavenly slumber.
Rushing to the deli to grab the first number.
Searching for his slippers.
Crooning a tune that his homemade breeze whispers.

He uses sunscreen.
Wearing dark glasses.
Putting on the dawn.
Watering Eden's lawn.
All that, before he even stretches to yawn.
He marks his own time.
That's why he never stands in line ...

Author's Note

Pete
“God himself culminates in the present moment, and will never be more divine in the lapse of all the ages. And we are enabled to apprehend at all what is sublime and noble only by the perpetual instilling and drenching of the reality which surrounds us. The universe constantly and obediently answers to our conceptions; whether we travel fast or slow, the track is laid for us.” - Thoreau
