'Add' Nauseum

'Add' Nauseum

A Poem by Pete
"

I derive no pleasure from talking with a young woman simply because she has regular features. - Thoreau

Go tell it on the mountain.
'Cuz her hills don't care.
Vent.
Talking to a wall gets  you nowhere.
"I'll always lend an ear," she said.
Deafness a virtue.
A shoulder to cry on turned out to be a mighty cold one.
Always doing exactly as she said.
Things never quite adding up.
Except for nauseum.

A figurative, black widow.
Queen of innuendo.
Always remembering to dot her eyes.
Never crossing her tease though.
I guess looks really can kill.
With my heart trampled and soul pallid.
The only thing I ever got was her recipe -
"Don't put too much mayonnaise in the rat salad ..."

Vent indeed, Pete, and a pretty stressful one: seems true thoughts hidden but a torrent of hurts dribbling. Nasty times. Hopefully about to turn away and forget what neither of you should deign to remember. Would like to think of this as make believe... and, can be erased.. lost.. .

Even tho I appreciate your ramped-up rant about some self-absorbed vamp, the more notable aspect of this poem are your amazing word twists, so well crafted, & causing the reader to stop in one's reading tracks & ponder the beauty of your creativity: "never quite adding up. Except for nauseum" . . . "dot her eyes" . . . "crossing her tease" . . . your mind is a fountain of wordplay & brain tease! (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie

Pete, my caveman brain, temporary as it is, couldn't escape that photo as I read your poem. This is genuine art, the whole package, and delivered from an experienced and wise man. I probably shouldn't comment further. I never know who's watching and reading. :)

Exceptional work! (I wonder if Thoreau would become speechless, if he were that man on his knees.)
