Birthday Suit

A Poem by Pete

It is what a man thinks of himself that really determines his fate. - Thoreau

We all run.
Far away from the burning rays of a sallow sun.
We all hide.
Front to back and side to side.
What is it that clothes you?
After all, we only disrobe when we have to.
What adorns the essence of your life's collage?
How do you respond when fate scuttles its sick sabotage?
The truest measure of a man is how he fights in the battle of adversity.
That and the diplomas he holds from the schools of hard knocks and faith's university.
From rude rags to three piece suits.
Always remember that ...
... "fairies wear boots" ...

Great thoughts here Pete, about our miserable and ultimately futile attempts to define our identity. We are all things to all men but a cypher to ourselves. Best just getting on with life and not judging ourselves too harshly. I keep coming back to Burns, ' oh would some power the giftie gie us , to see ourselves as others see us.
it's really good to see some deep thinking here .
All the best,
Alan

7.2 billion and rising, 7.2 billion masks, and rising.

'we only disrobe when we have to.' Indeed... and even then we keep our underwear on.
