Down But Not OutA Poem by PeteIt is better to have your head in the clouds, and know where you are... than to breathe the clearer atmosphere below them, and think that you are in paradise. - ThoreauNourish me. Soil of the earth and salt of the sea. Hand me the golden key. Let me run. Away from the wanton weeds of Eden and decadent bullets of Hell's gun. 'Til this repulsive state is over and done. Open my heart. Before goodness and mercy depart. Whilst angels still paint Heaven's art. Show me love. On the wispy wings of a dove. Soaring knowingly above. Ease my incessant fears. As I wander these hard, stubborn years. At least until the impenetrable fog clears. Revive my weary soul. On Calvary's grassy knoll. Where tombstones reticently roll. Inject the soothing medicine of my muse into a vein. Easing my earthly pain. Before reason goes insane. Grant me a sonnet of Catullus. Send it thus. Whilst heartfelt words still engage us. Play me a life-giving song. Tell me I'm not wrong. Let not this drought prolong ... I like the intro (first 47 seconds) and especially the ending (5:00 - end) of this song. © 2020 PeteAuthor's Note
